The countdown to Rajinikanth’s ‘Coolie’ has started! Get a first look at Thalaivar in this gangster action drama, his first collaboration with director Lokesh Kanagaraj, set to release on 14 August 2025.
The next movie starring the superstar Rajinikanth that will be shown in theaters is called Coolie. It’s an action movie about gangsters. This film is the first time that “Thalaivar” (which means “leader” and is a nickname for Rajinikanth) is working with Lokesh Kanagaraj, who is a very popular director right now. It’s important to know that Coolie is its own separate movie and isn’t connected to any other movies that Lokesh Kanagaraj has made in his “Cinematic Universe” (which is a series of related films).
This big and exciting movie is scheduled to come out in theaters on 14 August 2025. The release is only 100 days away, so the team making the movie has released a short video to give fans a sneak peek at what Coolie will be like. In the video, the director Lokesh shows quick glimpses of the backs of actors Nagarjuna, Upendra, Soubin Shahir, and Sathyaraj, building anticipation. Rajinikanth’s Coolie OTT: Bigger Than ‘Jailer’? ‘Coolie’ Reportedly Bags ₹120 Crore Streaming Deal.
The superstar Rajinikanth is doing what he’s famous for – breaking records! But this time, it’s not just how many tickets his movies sell in theaters, but also in the online streaming platform(OTT). His next movie, Coolie, which is directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, has supposedly been bought by a big streaming service for an amazing amount of money – 120 crore rupees, if the news is correct.

According to a report from the (website Koimoi), Amazon Prime Video has bought the OTT rights to stream the movie online. Even though it hasn’t been officially announced yet, this deal for 120 crore rupees is one of the biggest ever for the rights to show a movie online. The same report also says that Rajinikanth’s huge hit movie Jailer was bought by Prime Video for a very large sum of 100 crore rupees.
