A major voter list scandal has surfaced in Uttar Pradesh right before the elections. After deleting millions of voters, the Election Commission mysteriously added over 16 lakh new names to the list.
An investigation by The Reporters' Collective found that the official website is hiding the names, addresses, and photos of these new voters. Keeping this a secret breaks the law, which requires new voter information to be public.
Because the details are hidden, no one can tell if these 16 lakh voters are real people or fake accounts.
How To Add 13 Lakh Voter UP Electoral List Without Application Forms?
The data also shows another huge problem: only 71 lakh people actually applied to vote, but 84 lakh names were added to the list.
This means about 13 lakh names were added without any official application forms, completely breaking the rules. When asked about these shocking issues, the Election Commission refused to answer, causing serious worries about widespread cheating in the upcoming election.
