Who is Lord Vishwakarma?

Lord Vishnu, according to hinduism, emerged when the universe was still in its infancy. In Kshir Sagar, he was lying in his bed. Vishnu’s navel blossomed into a lotus. Lord Brahma, who had four faces, came from this lotus. Vastudev was the name of Brahma ji’s son. Vastudev was the seventh of seven children born to Vastu of Dharma. His wife’s name was Angirasi. Vastudev’s son, Rishi Vishwakarma, was born from these. Rishi Vishwakarma, like his father Vastudev, is thought to have become a master architect. Like his father, Lord Vishwakarma became a brilliant scholar of architecture.

It is said that Lord Vishwakarma had made Sudarshan Chakra of Vishnu, Trishul of Shiva, Dwarka city of Lord Krishna, Indraprastha city of Pandavas, Pushpak Vimana, Vraj of Indra, Lanka of gold. He had also constructed a golden mansion for Shiva in Lanka. Ravana is reported to have assumed the role of Dakshina during the palace’s worship.

Lord Vishwakarma is revered as a God’s engineer, carpenter, mechanic, architect, and sculptor. He constructed Lord Krishna’s Dwarika (now said to be submerged in the Arabian Sea), Ravana’s Lanka, and other structures. Lord Vishwakarma is also credited with the construction of Puri’s world-famous Jagannath temple. Lord Shiva’s Trishul, Lord Vishnu’s Sudarshana Chakra, Ravana’s Pushpak Vimana, and Indra’s Vajra are all reported to have been made by Lord Vishwakarma (thunderbolt).

He is shown as a knowledgeable guy with four hands who is deeply bearded. In his upper right and left hands, he holds a measuring tape and a scale, while in his lower right and left hands, he carries a book and a pot. The dome of his seat is engraved with representations of various engineering/architectural instruments and equipment.
