Arnab Goswami spends another night in custody
While the Mumbai High Court will hear Goswami’s request for provisional relief today, the local police have submitted a request for review requesting police custody of Goswami, which will be heard by a court of sessions tomorrow.
After the Mumbai High Court released Republic Television Editor-in-Chief Arnab Goswami‘s interim bail hearing on Friday, the 47-year-old journalist spent another night at the Alibag Nagar Parishad school, designated as a Covid- 19 from prison. . Arnab Goswami become arrested on Wednesday from his Lower Parel residence in Mumbai and become then taken to Alibag in reference to a 2018 case of abetment to suicide. Designer Anvay Naik and his mom Kumud Naik died of suicide and named Goswami as one of the people who didn’t pay dues amounting to Rs 5.4 crore.
The Bombay high court heard the anvay case on Thursday and published it for these days as they desired Anvay Naik’s wife Akshata Naik as a respondent. Maharashtra government and Akshata Naik are the respondents with inside the case.
On Thursday, the Alibag police moved a revision application to periods court seeking quashing of the Chief Judicial Magistrate’s in advance order (in which Goswami become remanded to judicial custody) and the police custody of Goswami. At present, there’s no bail plea earlier than the Alibag court as Goswami’s suggest Abad Ponda said the bail plea has been withdrawn. As the case now lies with the periods court, the plea has been withdrawn.
Arnab Goswami is in judicial custody until November 18.
The police filed the revision application after Chief Judicial Magistrate Sunaina Pingle on Wednesday night time denied police custody and termed the arrest prima facie illegal. Police, in its revision application, stated the magistrates court had “erred in now no longer thinking about the submissions and grounds submitted via way of means of the prosecution” while looking for custody of Goswami and the two different arrested accused.
The Alibag magistrate court denied police custody and raised issues.
